Windsor Locks Special Olympics participated in the Special Olympics Fall Festival State Games on Saturday, Sept. 11th at Ocean House in Watch Hill , RI. It was a beautiful sunny day and teams competed on the championship courts overlooking the ocean. Windsor Locks had 9 unified croquet teams (an athlete and a unified partner) compete against other teams from Glastonbury, CT and North Kingston, RI.   Teams received medals and ribbons for their efforts. Our WL teams have enjoyed our weekly practices since July 6th at Pesci Park. Croquet is a very social and strategic sport.
4 unified bocce teams also practiced along with our croquet teams. Our bocce teams competed in a round robin competition to finish off their season at the last practice on Tues., Sept. 7th.
It was a great summer to enjoy being outdoors and being together at practice.
Next up is our unified bowling program.
Anyone interested in being an athlete or partner should contact May-Jane Hussey more information about our WL special olympic program - mjirishmom@gmail.com or call # 860-916-9099
